IQUITOS

Information

Iquitos is also commonly known as the capital of the Amazon, especially because it is the largest city in the entire Peruvian jungle. In addition, it has one of the most important river ports in the country. Like any jungle, Iquitos is surrounded by lush and numerous trees, majestic rivers like the famous Amazon. It is important to note that several buildings in Iquitos preserve the material typical of the rubber era in Peru.

We could affirm that Iquitos is a mixture of innovative buildings together with traditions that they keep from the ancestors. Located specifically in Loreto, Iquitos presents various wonders that promise to catch any local or international tourist. Among the main attractions of this green city we find:

Mercado Belén de Iquitos: popular market located in the Belén neighborhood and is commonly known as the Venice of Peru.
Plaza de Armas de Iquitos: it is the main and historic square of Iquitos. It is normal to see the residents gather in this place to spend a relaxing time.
Ayapua Historical Ship Museum: located in Plaza Castilla. The ship has been there since 1906 and was brought from Hamburg, Germany. Now, it is a museum located on the Itaya river.
Casa de Fierro: Iquitos used to be known as the epicenter of the good years for rubber. Thanks to the money from this material, it was possible to make innovative buildings such as the Casa de Fierro.

And just as there are different places to visit, there are also various activities to do. In the following image we show you some.
